An Ode to Red Rock Deli Chips!

In 2007 when I was studying in Melbourne, I learnt a few things. I learnt International Marketing and Basic Psychology things like how to ski and how to play poker. I even learnt how to ride a bicycle again. But one of the most treasured memories of Melbourne, was when I learnt how to appreciate Red Rock Deli Potato Chips.

Oh yes, living on a student budget and in the backwater town otherwise known as Frankston, good treats were hard to come by. But I could always count on my weekly doses of Rock Deli to pick me up after a long week of assignments, or to keep me company while I watched another episode of Heroes / Neighbours / House / Supernatural / Biggest Loser / whatever-was-showing-on-Aussie-TV-in-those-days.

Oh what great friends they were. But sadly, the day I packed my bags to come home was the day I bid farewell to my loyal friends. Rock Deli can't be found in Malaysia yet, so I have not had the pleasure of feasting on these delicacies at my whim and fancy. So when Zhen Han went back to Melbourne for a holiday and asked what we wanted, there was obviously only one thing on the tip of my tongue - Rock Deli Crisps!

And soon enough he was back with the box above. From the pictures you can see 4 flavours: Honey Soy Chicken, Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar, Sweet Chili & Sour Cream and Sea Salt. There's also a Honey Mustard flavour in yellow packaging that wasn't included in the box. A shame really because I really liked those too.

And there you have it!!! The coveted chip in all its crowning glory! That particular chip is from a packet of Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream. Personally, my favourite was always the Honey Soy Chicken and the occasional Mustard. Unfortunately Zhen Han bought back this party pack that has a variety, but very small packets. Hardly enough for big eaters like me!

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to make my own trip back again one day and stock up for myself. If any reader is planning a holiday in Melbourne and want something unique there, then pick up a packet of Rock Deli soon as you can! (And while you're at it, be a kind soul to bring back some for me too. =D)
